However, Rave Master never quite achieved the same level of success as its widely loved counterpart -- and for good reason. While many critics and fans actually prefer Rave Master 's manga to later parts of Fairy Tail , the censored dub of the anime was notoriously bad. Here's how it ruined any chance of the series breaking out in the West. The protagonist of Rave Master is a young man named Haru Glory, who becomes the second "Rave Master" after the apparent death of the first.

Haru's predecessor was a man named Shiba, who once defeated the evil Dark Brings Mother named Sinclair with his powerful sword, the Ten Commandments.

This incident scattered most of the mystical Rave Stones across the world and destroyed a huge chunk of the planet. Now given Shiba's part of the five Rave Stones along with his sword, Haru sets out with the amnesiac girl Elie and the "dog" Plue to find the other parts of Rave and defeat the evil Demon Card organization. Elie can't kill Haru so she holds back. So inside the Endless is the Star Memory Gale was talking about.

Lucia says that destroying the endless will destroy the Overdrive on the way. The two start duking it out, Haru takes a pretty bad hit, Lucia starts rambling about how Star Memory can stop the Overdrive again and how it has saved the world before. Outside the Endless all the good guys of the series have converged. That's gotta be an awesome scene, I can't wait to see it. The spoilers listed a bunch of the people, it sounds way coolio.

Even Solosido and Hebi are there! So anyway, they fight the bad guys. Musica gets knocked out. So Haru and Lucia go at it for the last time and Haru wins the fight. Lucia starts to fade away, convinced that he has succeeded in destroying the world. Haru can't get out of the Endless but he's still able to talk to Elie. He asks her to use her power to destroy the Endless before the Overdrive occurs. Elie refuses, because that would mean killing him too. Haru tells her to, and not to worry, that he'll find a way to come back to her.

Elie finally destroys it. He gains allies along the way and overall has one heck of an adventure. Known in Japan simply as RAVE , this was the first major manga to bring success to eventual Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima , weaving 35 volumes in a fantastic tale of love, honor, courage and fate.

It was adapted into an anime in titled Groove Adventure Rave , which ended in with 51 episodes that only cover the first third of the story before its premature cancelation. While Hiro Mashima has continued hoping his series will one day get a second chance at adaptation, this stumble has put a big damper in things. In the United States, the anime was severely edited and aired on Toonami, and didn't see the light of day again for a few years until Sci Fi Channel picked it up as part of their Ani-Monday block.

The manga as well as the anime was owned by Tokyopop , who dropped the series in without warning with only three volumes left to go.
